Extra-curricular Clubs
At Ninelands, we provide a wide range of extra-curricular clubs for our pupils. Activities such as football, dance, gymnastics, cricket, climbing and Forest School are available for children to attend. These clubs are offered in addition to the two hours of physical education taught during curriculum time. Participation at these clubs leads on to the children competing in a wide range of sporting competitions with other local cluster schools.
Children are invited to attend competitive sporting events within the local area. This is an inclusive approach which endeavours to encourage not only physical development but also mental well-being. These events also develop teamwork and leadership skills and are very much enjoyed by the children. The prospect of competition provides a great incentive for the children to attend clubs and the subsequent events. Our children have competed in events such as football, rugby, rounders, athletics, curling, dodgeball and cross-country. For some, this has led to competing in city-wide and county- wide competitions against other schools across Leeds and beyond.
Here at Ninelands we are proud to also offer a plethora of non-sporting extra-curricular activities for our children to enjoy. Staff offer clubs such as Lego, History detectives, Computational Thinking, Choir, Musical Theatre, French, Yoga, Cooking and Recorders. These are available for children across both key stages and vary each half term. Some take place during lunch times and playtimes and some are after school. We feel that extra-curricular activities boost young people's confidence to interact socially with others; extend their social networks; and provide them with new skills and abilities. Above all, they offer an important space to have fun and relax.
